Just like last year the Nord Stream Race 2013 will again be complemented by a Match Race Series of the Swan 60 yachts. Five teams from five different countries will compete in a one on one-competition on Thursday, 12th of September. The first start is scheduled for 12pm. The final will take place around 7pm.
Be close to the action in front of the Marina Sonwik
The races will take place right in front of the harbour mole at the Marina Sonwik so that spectators can be close to the action. A sailing expert will guide through the programme and explain the manoeuvres and race developments to the public. To round off the exciting events on the water an entertainment programme with live music will take place in the race village next to the yacht harbour. After the match races the prize giving ceremony will take place here as well, followed by a crew party. Participants of the Flensburger Fördewoche are also very welcome to join in the celebrations.
Five nations competing in Swan 60 class
The five teams that will start in the Match Race and afterwards take part in the Nord Stream Race have now been announced. First up is Team Germany sponsored by the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein. Tim Kröger will again steer the Team Europe like he already did in 2012. Also starting for the second time is Team Russia with skipper Vladimir Liubomirov as well as Team Holland. The newcomers this year are Team Turkey and we are looking forward to seeing whether they can maybe spring a surprise.
More information and detailed crew profiles will be posted on this page very soon.
