Organisers have already received eleven pre-registrations, applications and commitments for the Nord Stream Race 2013. Besides the five Gazprom Swan 60, which will start in their own division, the first ORCi boats have also registered.
The “Nordic Falcon” has confirmed their entry as the first yacht in the ORC class. The 56 ft Judel/Vrolic construction was built by Knierim in Kiel, Germany in 2008 and has taken part recently in the ARC 2011 and ARC 2012. The crew has covered 15.000 sea miles during those trips. The “Nordic Falcon” (LUX 6229) will be skippered by Eckhart Gerlinger.
It was a little over a year ago that Vladimir Liubomirov, Commodore of The Yacht Club of Saint-Petersburg had a dream to set up a one design race having recently finalised his own Swan 60 - Bronenosec. The Yacht Club was only established in 2010 and Liubomirov was keen to revive the traditions that once existed in the famous city where the world's first ever yacht club was founded by Peter the Great.
